I bought this watch on a whim a week before my marathon. I had no idea it was so freakin’ cool… I am an extremely finicky consumer, an avid runner, and an SVT heart patient. Having my heart tracked, accurately, while I run, is a huge plus for me.
I hate running with the old chest straps.
This thing is wonderful.
I like how the watch enables me to customize my screen so it shows my pace, miles run, and heart rate. The customizations are endless and you can really make the watch your own, depending on what metrics are important to you. The battery life is impressive.
The GPS is off a bit at times, but just depends on where you’re running and other various factors. For example, while running my marathon the GPS said I ran 28.1 miles, when in reality it was 26.2 (give or take 0.5 – 1 mile for zig-zagging between the runners). Other factors could have been the large towers in Chicago messing with Garmin’s GPS signal. Either way, it’s a flaw, but not one that I’m overly concerned with. The unit makes me happy. The small discrepancy in miles run is a little thing for me.
What really makes me happy, is that you get to decide how much in your face the watch is. I’m a minimalist, and hate the idea of wearing a wearable all day, every day (that’s why I returned my Fitbit). I don’t use the watch to track my every step (although some may find this useful). I only wear the watch when running, and it does its job superbly. Hats off to Garmin on this one!
